If the score is level at that point the market pays the draw, and the match then goes to two 15-minute periods of extra time and, if needed, a penalty shoot-out - which outright and to-lift-the-trophy markets follow but the 1X2 market does not. Two-legged semi-finals add another layer, being settled on aggregate before extra time and penalties come into play at the end of the second leg. The Grand Final decides the Championship, while the Premiership was already settled by the regular-season ladder.
How A-League Grand Final markets are structured
- The A-League Men season awards two trophies. The Premiership goes to the club that finishes first over the regular season, and the Championship to the winner of the Grand Final, which makes them two distinct futures markets that different clubs often win.
- In 2025-26 the competition ran with 12 clubs, each playing 26 regular-season matches: a full 22-match home-and-away schedule plus four extra rounds. Six clubs reach the finals.
- The top two go straight to two-legged semi-finals, third to sixth meet in single-match elimination finals, and the Grand Final is one match between the semi-final winners. Semi-finals are decided on aggregate over the two legs.
- Level scores in the finals are resolved on the field: elimination finals, semi-finals and the Grand Final go to 30 minutes of extra time, played in two halves rather than as sudden death, and then to a penalty shoot-out if still level. The Championship is never shared.
